A positive attitude, what researchers call a “growth thinking” or idea in progress, is associated with both higher courage and devotion, according to a new significant research.

People who believe they will succeed are far more enthusiastic and have greater&nbsp, willpower&nbsp, than those who do not include the idea, says Hermundur Sigmundsson, a professor at the Department of Psychology at NTNU.

Sigmundsson has spent many years trying to understand what factors contribute to people’s success in their endeavors. He and Professor Monika Haga from NTNU’s Department of Teacher Education have then collaborated.

Their report,” Love and tenacity in people with higher rates of&nbsp, development mindset&nbsp, are different than in individuals who have low rise mindset”, is&nbsp, published&nbsp, in the journal&nbsp, Acta Psychologica.

The two looked at 1, 548 individuals aged 13 to 77 to examine several factors needed to be good at everything. First, they considered the participants ‘ passion, determination and belief that they would succeed in their goals. Here, of course, there are large individual differences.

Then, they compared the participants who had the least belief in their ability to succeed to those who had the most optimistic attitude. The differences are clear.

When we compare the five percent who are the most optimistic to the five percent who are the least optimistic,” we find significant differences in passion and determination,” according to Sigmundsson.

These groups are different. High&nbsp, passion&nbsp, and determination are directly related to positive attitudes in adults.

” Our findings can help us understand how various factors interact with one another.” These are in turn related to how happy people are with their lives, how they feel, what they’ve already accomplished, and what they’ve learned,” Sigmundsson said.

When we become more aware of what makes people with various attitudes, we can also learn more about how to inspire and inspire different groups. So we can persuade people to set long-term objectives and work toward them. This is what Sigmundsson refers to as “getting the I CAN feeling.”

” The belief in growth is significant for a large portion of our society. This is true for school, sports, work and&nbsp, family life”, he said.

Abstract

People who have a high level of growth mindset have different levels of passion and grit than those who have a low growth mindset.

The main objective of the study was to find out whether people with different levels of growth mindsets had different levels of passion and grit.

From an original sample of 1548 participants in the age 13 to 77&nbsp, years, two groups with the 5&nbsp, % highest scoring and the 5&nbsp, % lowest scoring on growth mindset, respectively, were compared on their scores in passion and grit.

Participants completed Mindset the Theories of Intelligence Scale ( TIS ) as a measure of their intelligence. The eight-item Passion Scale, which measures grit, and the Grit-S scale, which measures passion were used to assess both.

Findings revealed that adults with low growth mindsets exhibit lower levels of passion and grit in comparison to those with high levels of passion and grit.

These results may probable be significant for better understanding of the relationship between these constructs positively related to life satisfaction, well-being, achievement, and learning.

Additionally, better understanding what traits distinguish people with different growth mindsets can help us understand how to boost motivation, achieve long-term goals, and maintain effort in various groups.

It can be argued that our society should have a growth mindset that encompasses everything. Both in schools, sports, working life and within the walls of the family.
